It's a pity we couldn't see RT go off the air five years ago. Preferably right in the middle of one of Corbyn's not-infrequent appearances.

THE WORLD IS SCREWED.
So you're seriously suggesting that there is real chance that Britain will attacked with nuclear weapons? Well, that escalated quickly from £1.50 for a litre of unleaded. :o
That could happen, in a worsecase scenario. We should ALL be worried about an inevitable world war.

To be honest, I'm shitting myself right now. I'm very worried, and very anxious. This isn't going away anytime soon.

On the optimistic side:
1. Putin’s obsession with Ukraine may be his undoing. If sanctions start to bite - and aside from Johnson’s feeble first go, they’re harsher than people predicted - and more oligarchs and members of the Duma find they can’t take their lovely holidays and trips abroad anymore, he’ll be looking at increased discomfort domestically. He’s believed his own hype as a strongman, is making enemies at home (dressing down his staff on national TV might have given them impression he wanted, but they won’t have liked it), and the general Russian public seem bemused by a needless campaign.
2. If it helps get Europe off of Russian fossil fuels, then great - that permanently cuts off money and influence
3. Trump’s fawning has made even republican voters baulk. He may have made himself and the GOP less popular just before a big election year and around the time the next presidential runners start seriously looking at bids.

None of this makes what has happened remotely good, but the outcome only going the one way towards WW3 is absolutely not a given either.

Bonus point: proper questions and scrutiny about Tory party funding are happening. And a poorer bunch of Conservatives with less influence from property tycoons is good news for everyone.

No it's not, but the prospect of a nuclear missile strike on, well, anywhere, is still very unlikely.

I know, but given that I live in a major port city and work in the place the submarines come from, I'm a wee bit nervy.

MP who’s been lavished with the most Russian money for campaigning is Brandon Lewis. He’s not exactly an influential bright spark rising star. But worryingly he is an MP for an East coast port town.

Although I love Formula 1 it is a moral vacuum of the worst kind when dealing with evil regimes who just happen to be prepared to give it lots of money.

So whilst F1 management prevaricates with weasel words about whether or not the `Russian Grand Prix should go ahead I have the utmost respect for ex-F1 Champ Sebastian `Vettel:
For myself, my own opinion is I should not go, I will not go. I think it’s wrong to race in that country.
Let's see who joins him.

>edit< Max Verstappen has said they should not race in Russia.

(The only Russian racing in F1 has already says that 'the doesn't do politics' for fuck's sake...)

He's refusing to condemn...

F1 drivers come in two flavours: intellectually gifted (people like Moss, Prost, Verstappen, Hamilton) and thick as a Boxing Day turd.

Guess which category I would put Charles Leclerc in:
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc backed F1 to “take a decision and have more information than we do”.

Recorded yesterday. This could be awkward for Ed Davey at the next PMQs:

Ukraine crisis: Lib Dems label former leader Vince Cable's appearance on RT 'entirely wrong'

Sir Vince, who was business secretary during the Cameron/Clegg coalition government and who led the Lib Dems between 2017 and 2019, appeared on the Alex Salmond Show on Thursday.

The show was pulled from the main schedule of RT, formerly Russia Today, but is available in full on the website.

Sir Vince told The Scotsman he has asked RT not to broadcast the interview in light of the full-blown invasion of Ukraine.

He said: “The interview had nothing to do with the situation in Ukraine and was about the paperback version of my book, Money and Power, and my earlier novel.

“I totally condemn the invasion and fully support Nato sanctions and the position of [existing party leader] Ed Davey that British measures should be strengthened.

“In view of this morning’s events I have asked RT not to broadcast the interview.”

There's a BBC SYB on this now.

Go there if you want to be reminded why referendums in the UK are a bad idea.

Look on the bright side: Trump has just signed his political death warrant now. Unless the Repugs really are that fucking crazy.

On that anxiety forum? The worst sufferers are now praying for the first time :(

Couldn’t they arrest him under the Patriot Act along with Rupert Murdoch?
Any news from Germany as to what Gazprom Gerhardt has to say for himself?
Also in the hall of shame are those posh English twats masquerading as reporters on RT.

According to LBC’s reliable US correspondent Simon Marks, Washington’s Russia analysts have concluded Putin has lost his mind for real. Don’t like the sound of Idi Amin with nukes.

Seems to be going down badly back home. I genuinely think Putin has overdone it this time - unless the real endgame is to justify a massive crackdown domestically and stop any pretence that he’s not an emperor.

Putin tells us all that, anyone who comes to Ukraine's aid will, and I paraphrase, suffer in ways they have never before experienced.

They've taken Chernobyl.

I'm no mathematician but 2+2 looks uncannily like an absolute shitshow.
