There's nothing whatsoever new about the Nat C's . What is disturbing is that they're no longer afraid to stand up and broadcast their poison to the wider world instead of hiding it away like a dirty little secret in private clubs or fringe meetings at party conferences. They're revelling in it and loving the fact that those on the 'left' (i.e. anyone who even raises an eyebrow) are shocked.

The Great British eccentric, ever ready to pop up in papers showing who knows best - faceless bureaucracy or the plucky little guy. Ready with a football for the motorway traffic jam in a heatwave, just as he's ready with his canoe for when it floods. And when a camera crew's passing.
This is just "spirited amateur" crap that was being spewed out in WW2 (and yes, the irony being that if anyone was the apogee of state planning and bureaucracy winning wars, it was the Allies over the chaos that was Axis planning).
For any academic to be so utterly deaf to the advances in cultural studies in the past 30 years is just a dereliction. One doesn't have to think Foucault and co were the be-all-end-all to recognise that the observation that ideas and stories don't spring from fucking nowhere is not rocket science, nor necessarily the same thing as saying said ideas and stories are worthless - far from it. You just have to be realistic about what you're ACTUALLY DOING.

They haven't had this much fun since the Federation of Conservative Students days.
Dressing up in full regalia for their Maggie Birthday parties.
Letting off fire extinguishers at Indian student events for religious festivals.
Burning the queen's currency in front of homeless people.

"Read my book, says Matty". I don't have to read his book to know about his other shite. Why can't he impart his economic model to us briefly on Twitter?

He's into the good globalisation, for people like him. No need for passport queues, just firmly say "British!" and get waved through.
It's just imperialism.

Matt asking questions here of the people in power. Who are.... journalists?! (He means left-liberal ones, who argued against Thatcherism, austerity and Brexit- those guys really need to step up)

If you believe nations should internationalise politics to act as a bulwark to economic globalisation, are you a globalist or an anti-globalist (In the eyes of the headbangers)?

I knocked his book off the table in WS today, I was half tempted to not put it back but I did, under a copy of Tenants.

An articulate take down of Goodwin’s blather from a centre right perspective and made more interesting because its author is David Willets. I know he’s never been right wing headbanger but it still feels weird reading a Conservative cabinet minister writing stuff that isn’t cretinous nonsense.

Guess who Matt blames?
Plagiarism is a form of cheating and is a serious academic offence.
Matt's been regurgitating the serious academic work of Farage 2023.

I’m up for an heir to P J O’Rourke but there’s no hilarity in the article. It’s a better effort than Littlejohn at humour but still not funny. And where the fuck do performative centrists hang out, are they talking about Johnson here or the Python argument sketch?
Performative centrism, taking the mindlessly median position of every issue just for giggles without any idea of what is qualitatively good or bad, is an intellectual curse, mostly taken up by those who couldn’t grow out of their Lebowski phase and are now perpetually stuck not understanding what time it is. But one can fetishize centrism and sit on the fence till one is impaled like an Ottoman soldier in 16th-century Romania. The other side will still see them as a useful virtue-signaling idiot.

Surprised he didn't say Lib-Lab-Con.
This will go about as well as Esther Rantzen's effort, I expect.
