There are countless other examples that similarly expose the BBC’s rank hypocrisy on this -Alan Sugar. Andrew Neil (though now no longer on the Beeb).

Lefty champagne socialist Lineker being woke is one thing. Getting Match of the Day cancelled is quite another. It might just possibly be that the Sun-reading classes will be thinking that maybe there's more to this than they first thought.

So show apparently to go ahead without any presenters. Are the commentators going to drop out next? Work to rule?

He’s a busted flush in the UK. The Mail is miles ahead of The Sun, and The Times has paywalled itself to irrelevance unless it breaks something that the others pick up. Lots of its stuff lately has been corruption stuff the Guardian ran with. (Though not to overlook the awful drip of trans bashing).

He looks like an old man keeping up the newspapers so he can show his kids/ grandkids around them and bore them with stories about the old days.
All the more reason for the Tories to give the BBC to the Murdoch empire.
I'm sure all those demanding a boycott of the licence fee will be delighted with GBBC or Fox UK or whatever it's going to be called. Then the Tories can focus on persuading the public that Channel 4 needs to be scrapped as well, I wonder who they'll give that to, Lord Dacre perhaps?

How dare he call us far right nutters, complained far right nutters.
Tory grandee Sir John Hayes has spearheaded the letter of demands, saying the numerous cases of Gary Lineker breaking the BBC’s impartiality rules will “no doubt shake many people’s - already fragile - confidence in both the impartiality and professional standards of the BBC.”
Other MP signatories of the letter include Conservative party deputy chairmen Matt Vickers and Lee Anderson; ex-ministers Brendan Clarke-Smith and Jonathan Gullis; Tory grandees Sir Desmond Swayne, Sir Edward Leigh and Bob Blackman; and vice-chairman of the Tory Common Sense Group Tom Hunt.

Matt Lawton saying commentators are meeting their union reps with a view to boycotting.

That would stop the show, surely, Time for Tarzan or Basil Rathbone or Champion the Wonder Horse

I remember not long ago, when all the best Tory leaders were boycotting interviews.

I wish my union would give its members the same unconditional support the PFA give theirs.

Revolt spreads to Final Score and Football Focus, the latter to be cancelled and replaced by Bargain Hunt. Perhaps the Bargain Hunt team will be the next to tweet.

Two things strike me about this whole debacle...

1. I usually find Ian Wright's personality rather abrasive, but fair play to him for being the first to stand up and say if Lineker's not going to be there, then neither will I.

2. Once Wright got the ball rolling, pretty much everyone else that is a public face or voice of the BBC's male football/soccer coverage has been able to pluck up the courage and say that they're also not going to work in support of Lineker, whom it would appear is popular with his colleagues in the BBC Sports department. It's now left the Beeb in a no-win situation, stick to their guns and they've majorly screwed up their EPL coverage for this weekend at least, back down then it's a humiliation for them. Had the BBC bosses ridden out the storm it would have all been forgotten about after a few days, only to be brought back up if Lineker did another Twitter outburst in the future. They've shat the bed on this one IMO.

There's no going back now. Lineker is finished at the BBC and it's a dream short-term win for the right.

Not false, complicated.
The BBC has declined to air a programme on climate change, which was not part of the main series. The main point stands.

The Tories reckon the BBC are finished, it's all working out very well for them.
