I will admit that examples where each side has tanks are more relevant to the current war.

This was always going to be Putin's approach to negotiations, have pie-in-the-sky demands that no nation could reasonably accept and then when the inevitable refusal comes in, posture it as "We tried to parlay but they are not interested in peace" and then carry on launching artillery at defenseless citizens hiding in makeshift bunkers.
