Elon Musk ‘committed evil’ with Starlink order, says Ukrainian official

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... er-ukraine
A senior Ukrainian official has accused Elon Musk of “committing evil” after a new biography revealed details about how the business magnate ordered his Starlink satellite communications network to be turned off near the Crimean coast last year to hobble a Ukrainian drone attack on Russian warships.

In a statement on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, which Musk owns, the Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak wrote that Musk’s interference led to the deaths of civilians, calling them “the price of a cocktail of ignorance and big ego”.

No fan of Musk but that seems to have been absolute bollocks. The biographer got it wrong.

In the meantime, here are Restore Trust, with the sort of rigorous scholarship we're missing.

Astonishingly, he can do even worse.

Dr Masani is a fan of Charles I.

I think we might safely say that enlightenment passed him by, possibly making a dull humming noise as it passed over the empty vessel that is his understanding of the impact of history...

The good doctor is still going. He's been a candidate for election, but he's "not trying to convince anyone". And he comments on people's appearances. Great guy. Also claimed that her doctorate must have come from a "back street poly". Accuses others of trolling.

FAO National Trust Members :

It's AGM time again (in November) and once again, a gaggle of right-wing cunts are trying to get themselves elected to the Trust's national governing body in an attempt to impose censorship against "wokeism"- or Trust properties' histories reflecting the actual historical origins of their founding owners, and the adoption and propagation of inclusive policies for black and minority ethnic people and the LGBTQ+ community.

Helpfully, some of them have identified themselves again via an organisation calling itself "Restore Trust", complete with a website : https://www.restoretrust.org.uk/, which identifies on its front page the candidates any non-twat NT member should definitely not vote for.

Interestingly, the capo di tutti cunti candidate, one Stephen Green, whom you may be remember for his rather public fundamentalist christian bigotry and homophobia, is also standing, but not under the "Restore Trust" umbrella. But he is quite easy to spot on reading through the candidate statements.

They're copying the Republican "School board and dog catcher" strategy.

Anyone brought up Green's penchant for domestic abuse?

Got my magazine and AGM booklet today, I can safely say the Restore Trust candidates leave a lot to be desired

Shit stirring bigot author Lionel Shriver is returning to the US as she’s fed up with imported culture war from the US which she helps to spread. If you haven’t come across Shriver she’s a thoroughly nasty piece of work and suspicions she’s has a screw loose are now confirmed

Shriver's opposition to immigrants destroying native cultures extended to support for loyalist paramilitaries, which is some fucking interesting mental gymnastics when you look at it for half a second.

(One of the more perplexing elements of all this is that she was present when Michael Stone committed his gun and grenade attack at a funeral in Milltown Cemetery, and whatever you may think of who he was "targeting" that day, she eventually reached the conclusion that he was one of the goodies)

As a white American, she's got some neck to be whining about immigrants destroying native culture.

Freddie Sayers of Unherd here. "Labour is the party of posh people in southern cities", apparently.

Labour does well in some southern cities but I venture this would be more to do with university students and staff and associated industries than "posh people".

This lot really believe the Trumpy bollocks about the Tories being the party of real people, don't they?

I'm also unimpressed by the assumption that, faced with a clusterfuck of a government which is mounting an assault on basic human rights, people's voting decisions will be made simply on the basis of costs.

Even after all these years I don't think that primitive Thatcherism still rules.

It will genuinely be a lot of money to a small number of people but I've yet to see any evidence that there are very many Labour voters among them.

Of course there’s other legitimate concerns, some would be happy to be less wealthy in order to kick out more foreigners, bang up more people up, stop pandering to the queers and making life more difficult for those know-nothing kids who don’t know they’re born.

Who are these elites, Douglas? Rikvah Brown and Jeremy Corbyn? Corbyn went nowhere near academia, so hard to blame it on them.
