Another by election, eh? More grist to the mill. Will Sunak stick to his apparent plan to hang on until the last possible date, like a latter day John Major?

Enough people have to sign the petition first...

Gullis gets his arse kicked by Jeremy Kyle's (very persistent) co-host, Nicola Thorp.

This heavyweight lost a selection contest to Susan Hall.
HIs subtweet from Khan makes it clear why Khan threatened to scrap the travelcard. TFL wasn't getting a fair share of the revenues. He's negotiated a bigger share. Win for London, no?

I know she's got her own thread, but I thought "wonder what Susan Hall's saying".
Yep, she's also subtweeting something that shows she's talking rubbish. The minister Huw Merriman says "working with TfL".

We got back to the foetid shithole™ today and were instantly struck with the number of roadworks - could it be that in order to shore up the vote for the utterly useless Tory Elliiot Colburn the DoE is stumping up some levelling up money to mend the borough's potholed thoroughfares?

They'll dig the holes, and make Starmer's government pay to fill them in.

They're all at it
The standards watchdog has opened an investigation into the Conservative MP Bim Afolami over his registration of payments for chairing a pressure group that lobbied Rishi Sunak. The commissioner on parliamentary standards launched the inquiry over “registration of interests” under the code of conduct.
It is understood that the inquiry relates to the way in which Afolami registered his £2,000 payments from a lobbying firm, WPI Strategy, after he acknowledged earlier this year that it had not been done correctly.
The Guardian reported in May that Afolami declared in the register of interests that one of his private clients was a public affairs firm, WPI Strategy, which paid him £2,000 a month. But he did not mention that they were paying him for his work running the Regulatory Reform Group of MPs.
As chair of the group, Afolami had written to the prime minister calling for regulators to be better held to account, and pressed Sunak for change at prime minister’s questions in the House of Commons...

Can we not ask Rentokil about clearing the Palace of Westminster of a serious infestation of corrupt poisonous lower-than-vermin?

Unfortunately, after a fire, they'll ask someone like Pugin to design a hideous Gothic Revival monstrosity to replace what was burnt. Well, that's what they did last time.

Setting aside the aesthetics arguments, at least Pugin was a notable architect in the day, and Gothic revival was the thing. Nowadays some MP knows a few developers who have just created a company to build government buildings, so let’s give them the contract

Nowadays some MP knows a few friends who have just created a 'company' to claim to build government buildings, so let’s give them the contract knowing that they can drag it out as long as they like, and if anyone gets wise they can claim the breach of contract compensation before trousering the cash and leaving the 'company' in a filing cabinet in the Caymans
FTFY.

Fuxake. All but impossible to guess who. It could easily be any of them . I’ll go for Jacob Rees-Mogg.
Mind you, it’s Surrey police that have nicked him. Here below, a list of the Tory MPs in Surrey. Take your pick.
Sir Paul Beresford MP. Conservative. Mole Valley.
Mr Crispin Blunt MP. Conservative. Reigate.
Claire Coutinho MP. Conservative. East Surrey.
Mr Michael Gove MP. Conservative. Surrey Heath.
Mr Chris Grayling MP. Conservative. ...
Mr Jeremy Hunt MP. Conservative. ...
Mr Kwasi Kwarteng MP. Conservative. ...
Jonathan Lord MP. Conservative.

Being widely reported as a top or senior tory. The scribes couldn't make that qualification without knowing who it is.

Given that the arrest was made last night Rees-Mogg is probably in the clear because he was working on GB News last night unless the police arrested him after he came off of air.

Gove seems to fit the bill.
Malc, you’re from that Surrey. Any thoughts ?
