As someone said today "Ken Loach is a man who devoted 4 years of his life to supporting the Labour Party".

Didn't realise this guy had left Labour. Brave prediction here. When challenged on this later by someone who points out he's recruiting for a different party (the Breakthrough Party), he backtracks somewhat to "it depends on their CLPs" and "I haven't got a crystal ball".

This week on Ever Decreasing (Left) Circles. The bad guys are the Socialist Campaign Group, and the Labour Left more generally. Who does that leave? Jez and Dave Spart?

Bold policy here. Think the public sector's got enough on its plate delivering services without having to solve the whole unemployment problem by itself too.

You may not be surprised to hear this poster is an MMT enthusiast.

The twitter left are furious with Steve Reed.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57984924
The council was mired in corruption and financial mismanagement during the decades of abuse, with "politicised behaviour and turmoil" dominating its culture, according to the report.

The report partly blames the Labour council's battle against the Conservative government in the 1980s, saying it sought to "take on the government" to the detriment of local services.

"During that time, children in care became pawns in a toxic power game within Lambeth Council and between the council and central government," the report added.

Edit- I see TWA has already posted the key bit from the Executive Summary. Doesn't mention Knight by name, but basically says the council pissed about and neglected the day job. (Though probably some other factions too).

Reed's comment looks a bit cheap because Knight can't defend himself, but he's right that some edgelord leftists recently were trying to rehabilitate him. It wasn't exactly uncontroversial that Lambeth Council had been a disaster- see the mention of the Appleby Report in there.

Few more of the usual suspects here.

John McDonnell MP, the shadow chancellor, said: “Ted Knight was one of the finest and most courageous socialists I have known. He was indefatigable in his campaign for a society based upon equality, social justice and solidarity. No matter what was thrown against him, he stood firm in his beliefs, engaged in Labour and trade union struggles to the end. He devoted his life to the greatest cause there is, humanity.”

Len McCluskey, general secretary, Unite the union, said: “Ted was a true spirit and a fierce fighter for his class. I have been proud to know Ted for many years, and to have been inspired by his leadership and socialist convictions. In recent years, Ted has been an active Unite community member, inspiring further generations to fight for social justice. Ted will be much missed but in offering our sincere condolences to his family and friends on behalf of Unite, I hope the admiration and respect so many have for Ted will be of comfort. Goodbye my friend.”

Mark Serwotka, general secretary of the PCS civil service union, said: “Ted was a giant of our movement. I got to know him quite well in recent years and was constantly amazed at his drive, passion and commitment not just in the national stage but also locally where his work in the Croydon Labour and trade union movement was superb. He was knowledgeable, approachable, dependable, and an inspiration. I will miss him.”

I mean if people don't want to to be attacked, it might help if they didn't talk up disastrous periods of local government just because some people stuck it to Mrs Thatcher and Neil Kinnock.

Was he the one who said no compromise with the electorate?

Don't know if anybody said that, but it's a good joke.

Ted moved on to manage a nice little restaurant. At least the good comrade could run a private enterprise.

This isn't good.

Ben Sellers is the guy who styled himself as Laura Pidcock's "Chief of Staff" at one point. He's now working for Mary Foy MP. I haven't seen much of Foy, but if I were her, or any Labour MP for that matter, I'd be telling staff they might be advised to let Labour Against The Witchhunt go.

Bit like Linda Bellos, who moved successfully into consulting on equalities and got the OBE.

She'd have probably made less of an arse of herself than Kate Hoey as MP for Vauxhall too.

Can someone please tell these fuckwits to grow the fuck up, or fuck off until they do?

Innit?

"Show me the proof" is pretty much a guarantee of bad faith on this stuff. That and "they're being expelled for socialism".

Sharon Graham isn't going quietly from the Unite election.

Please tell me Steve Turner didn't agree to this "offer" from Howard Beckett. Or if he did that he's got a Chris Evans joke horn he's going to pull out after the election to honk at Howard.

Labour Against The Witchhunt. Well, that's a nice, no assumptions made in advance name.
