I've been saying that for a long time.

#2 son (the American) reckons that ICE were recruited on the same basis as the 1984 dogs under Trump 1, so now they are ready to go. He said to look out for the Nazi tattoos...

Interesting and very critical article on Bidenomics.

https://www.foreignaffairs.com/united-s ... l-delusion

Biden's response to Covid was better than parts of the EU which are still stuck, but too much boost of demand without boost of supply as well, hence unnecessary inflations over and above what the energy crisis brought.

In some ways harsh- Biden lost the House and was filibustered on some good stuff. And there are some good signs like increasing numbers of factories which might pay off now. But the overall performance of manufacturing wasn't any better than it was under Trump (or anyone else). And the men in diners still voted for Trump.

On the longer term stuff (infrastructure, chips, Inflation Reduction Act, it may be too soon to tell. But Furman's surely got a point about the sort of "win win" talk there was around Biden policy. Trade offs are real.

American supercarrier collides with vessel in Mediterranean

https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/america ... terranean/
According to U.S. Navy Commander Tim Gorman, U.S. Sixth Fleet Lead Spokesperson, “The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) was involved in a collision with the merchant vessel Besiktas-M at approximately 11:46 p.m. local time, Feb. 12, while operating in the vicinity of Port Said, Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea.

The collision did not endanger the Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as there are no reports of flooding or injuries. The propulsion plants are unaffected and in a safe and stable condition. The incident is under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.”
He confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway, with further details to be released as they become available.
DEI has a lot to answer for.

Some of those civil war fans have kicked off early (maybe).
News story contains considerable speculation.
Rebecca Marodi, a California fire captain who was targeted by the right-wing as supposedly being a “DEI hire” and therefore blamed for the LA fires, has been found stabbed to death in her home.

Sudden vision of a doomscape, an absolute hellfield of misery and blood, and a few white men standing in the ruins of whatever town they pretended to call home saying 'ah, but it's ours, and we look after our own.'

A question to contemplate for the future.

Will they bluster on and on with these random "efficiency savings", or do they hit some equilibrium point and move on to stage 2 of the plan?

How far can they weaken America's infrastructure before many counties lapse into Mad Max / Escape form New York / Planet of the Apes style dystopia.

How far can they shrink the state before the Dollar ceases to function as a credible reserve currency.

Yaay - Crypto!!

I’m assuming Musk will lose interest pretty rapidly once he has gutted the areas that oversee his businesses. Once he’s free to launch rockets from downtown Austin and unleash self driving that relies solely on data from mapquest circa 2007, he has little more to gain personally. And I’m assuming he and Trump privately can’t stand each other because they’re too alike.

Already Americans are asking when all this miraculously found and saved money will be returned to the taxpayers, or reassigned to government programmes they do approve of.

All the “superbrains” are doing is highlighting money already spent, (goes without saying that they have no concept of the value gained); what if these payments were one-offs, or had come to the end of the contract, therefore are not savings as the expenditure no longer exists.
But hey, if it means we can shit stir about “them”, all the better

Paid my weekly visit to Facebook.
It almost had me feeling sorry for the Septics.

American Airlines have adverts running "Come and visit Place in America".

Each ad is flooded with hundreds of comments.
People explaining why they won't during the next four years.
Some polite and measured, others not so much.

Little Ben Shapiro.
Helium voiced conservative influencer.
Was reduced to reading advertisements between the main acts at the CPAC conference.

Desperate for attention, he posts something very creepy on social media.

His sister are now checking their drawers for missing underwear.

At least AOC's feet are getting a rest form his attentions.
