The hardest part of the black dog is it convinces me that not only is there never any let up to the hard times, such a thing isn't even possible for wasteful, squandering wretches like myself.

But I appreciate the sentiment all the same, thank you.

Rather harrowing to think about actually.
That's a decent human being right there.

Oh, how many times could I have written that about myself.

Having been there, I can tell you that the sun *will* shine again.

We're here and listening.

Meanwhile, Lord Frost is attempting to launch Zoom on an etch-a-sketch.

They'll temporarily relax but they can't "undo" the damage. A waiver here, an exception there - they can do that. But, reciprocal FoM remains a shattered ambition for millions. It is just so overwhelmingly fucking sad.

An Etch-a-Sketch would look great with a tablet computer mounted in it.

The Telegraph now have "Trade War" as a tag.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/20 ... -stronger/
Britain can easily bear a trade war with Europe – and could end up stronger
The UK can survive a trade conflict with the rest of Europe, but businesses need to start war-gaming that right now
I can't read the rest of it either, but the title is enough for me.

No wonder business is a mess. The people who should be running it are all cutting hair, driving cabs and writing for the Daily Telegraph.

Is it me who's slipped into an alternative reality, or the twats at the Torygraph?

I don't think a trade war with the EU will be a) winnable and 2) making us stronger. We have no hope while we are being 'led' by ideology-driven intellectual lightweights who get their information / biases confirmed from the seriously-deluded intellectual lightweights in the right-wing media.

We're fucked, aren't we.

I don't think it'll get that far, because not even Johnson is that stupid. More likely the plan is "we talked tough and forced a deal (we could have got anyway) out of them". You'd think nobody would fall for that, but apparently there is an audience for it.

Frost’s red line is about ECJ jurisdiction not winning ‘a good deal’ the Commission had set up for him. Rentoul likes trolling but Brexit isn’t in his wheel house.

Does anyone bother to check on red lines at this point?

My DE "papers" have come though. I was given the green light in September when I attended my interview at the main Office for Migration but I am not one for counting chickens. Now, everything is confirmed.

I can't begin to express how much of a relief and a privilege this is.

Another preview of Matthew Lynn's article, even better than the last. Any problems with cabotage or the like, phone Matthew, I guess.

Oh wait, so red tape is a minor inconvenience then? Not what you screeched about for 30 years before 2016, ey.

The only person (in government) that I can think of as being as stupid as this oaf is David Davis. And Frost is probably the less able of the two.

Bit of a game to Rentoul and the like because they don’t need to worry about a lowering of living standards, they can keep making this a war between remainers vs leavers.

The EU said they would implement this, the last week of Frost playing silly buggers* was utterly pointless, as someone said we are very unimportant, what is important to the EU is it’s member state that is connected to a none member state.

Whatever they do Brexit is damaging the country, the economy is down the sink and a party that pledged no tax rises are going make some more next week.

*and to make another point to that he flew out to Lisbon to make that speech that meant nothing and was for no reason, climate change is only top of their agenda when it’s making others do stuff.
