A year before Sound of Music was released, satirists dressed up as show girls to highlight legal immunity for racist murder. Disgusting isn't it?

It reminded me more of Sutcliffe The Musical

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen barred from running in 2027 presidential election

As we've reported, a French court has given Marie Le Pen a five-year ban on running for office with immediate effect. This means she is barred from running in the 2027 French presidential election race.

She has also been given a four-year prison sentence, of which two will be suspended. The other two can be spent with an electronic tag rather than in custody.

Le Pen has also been given a €100,000 (£82,635) fine.

She will very likely appeal the jail sentence, so this sentence will not apply now.

That's going to upset all the (far) right people. Chouette!

Marine Le Pen.

Oh, mon Dieu. Comme c’est triste. Ça ne fait rien.

Another tsunami of whiny victimhood and self pity incoming.

Hmm, if my car was parked in the streets of Paris (or other French city), I'd move it. I think it might get a bit burny later.

Actual leader of the proper left in France. Say what you like about Jez, he wouldn't come out with stuff like this.

The law is the law in France. In Türkiye, it is merely the capricious whim of Erdoğan.

When the BBC reported the story earlier the producer thought it would be a good idea to include a quote from Elon Musk that well known expert on French politics and the French legal system. Funnily enough Elon can't see any problem with right wing political parties using dodgy money to win elections.

Musk has form - he wanted Robinson released. What are the odds on Trump trying to coerce France into overturning the verdict?

Dominic Strauss Kahn didn't even get as far as a court when his presidential ambitions were scuppered by his own actions.
The difference is that his voting base would have considered the evidence against him rather than reach for the conspiracy button.
This conviction may not even benefit the governing parties so it's just as well they weren't really pulling the strings of the legal system.
According to "foremost conservative thinker" Dan Hannan, pro EU MEPs are on the fiddle as well as but they're let off.

They might do now they see a bandwagon, but previously they've not rated Le Pen, probably because of the cod-leftist stuff she comes out with. Zemmour has been their man.

Putin has described the suspension as an "affront to democracy".

Let's consider Putin's actions regarding opposition.

Let's ask Yanis. As a friend of mine said of him, he presumably thinks jailing Navalny and Charles Manson are the same.
