This is why my son and his partner no longer live in the USA, and are unlikely to go back.

And also why (as well as the Harry Dunn travesty) I'm unlikely to visit anytime soon even with a sane occupant back in The White House.

Same. I think they've passed the tipping point, and if the Republicans take the House and Senate in 2022 it will be game over for sure. 14 characteristics...

Is this the offending article? The Team America penis rocket does suggest unresolved issues.

Coming to a platform near you soon:

Trump social media firm raises $1bn from investors

The Trump Media & Technology Group is working to launch a social media app called Truth Social early next year.

It comes as Mr Trump remains banned from Twitter and Facebook following the attack on the US Capitol in January.

"$1bn sends an important message to Big Tech that censorship and political discrimination must end," he said.

"As our balance sheet expands, Trump Media & Technology Group will be in a stronger position to fight back against the tyranny of Big Tech."

Mr Trump announced plans to launch Truth Social earlier this year, saying it would allow conversation "without discrimination on the basis of political ideology".
Aren't there platforms that already do this - Gab, Telegram?

Telegram's what you make of it - just like WhatsApp or w/e.

Problem with creating social media channels aimed at one section of society is they do the opposite of what you want, it’s why various men’s right groups have infiltrated online gaming.

Neither Gab or Telegram will allow Trump to bilk quick cash out of venture capitalists figuring it's a sure thing he'll bring a large dose of highly suggestible and really, really fucking stupid people to an echo chamber.

Trump, of course, won't manage to create the network he's talking about, and it'll crash and burn much like Parler when his followers sPeke they're branes and his hosts see it.

A rare slither of good news.........it looks like the Senate Dems just confirmed another slew of judges, thereby bringing the total number of judges confirmed during Biden's first year to 40, the most since former President Reagan’s first year in office.

Interestingly, just 3 of Reagan's 40 judicial confirmations were women, whereas 30 of the 40 Biden judges confirmed in 2021 are female.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_f ... _Joe_Biden

The Democrats are going to need as much help as they can muster from these appointments if they somehow fail to pass vital voting rights legislation in the new year.

Back to "'murica!" (warning - the following contains soccer references) There was a recent "exclusive" interview of Donald Tr*mp hosted by Cadace Owens - in terms of grifters, Tr*mp would be a Champions League title contender while Owens would be looking to make the Championship play-offs with a good bit of luck, hoping to get a cash bonanza by getting promoted to the Premier League. Anyway, this is thee interview from a few days ago where Tr*mp was touting the success of COVID-19 vaccination programs - to watch the whole interview you'll need to shell out a US$12 subscription to the Daily Wire website where it's hosted. As if having already become confused & crestfallen that Cheeto Jesus spoke bigly about "the vaccine", the MAGAtts are also crying about having to spend a few dollars to watch the interview. Welcome to capitalism, folks! No hand out for your sorry arse! Oh, and it's promoted as the interview that "our censor-happy tech overlords won't let you hear" despite the fact that it's being pimped on Facebook. 8-)

Edit: and Owens is now trying to 'splain why Tr*mp is advocating everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19...

Candace Owens suggests Trump only touted vaccines because he's too old to know how to find alternative sources online

It's amazing how many Trumpaloons can't afford the $12 subscription. It's as if they're all po' white trash of low academic achievement with shit-paying jobs or no jobs at all.

I larfe at the stoopidz.

And you can bet your sweet bippy they'll be the same fuckers that'd begrudge Medicare to anyone (or bitched when Roadkill went behind a paywall - but I was one of those too :? )

I still want to know how the New York Times can offer initial subscriptions to UK readers for 50 cents a month!

It costs them basically nothing and helps with their international reach figures.

I've decided 2022 is the year I reduce my attention share of the soap opera that is US Politics.

Presumably all those people work for nothing and have never bought a newspaper or cable subscription.
