A cinema owner has defied a court order and reopened, one day after being ordered to shut by a judge for refusing to ask customers for Covid passes.

The website of Cinema & Co in Swansea says Santa Claus: The Movie was listed to start at 16:30 GMT on Wednesday.

About 20 people are inside the building and pizzas have been delivered.

An employee was asked by a BBC reporter whether they were open, but said queries had to be emailed, so an email has been sent to the firm.

Owner Anna Redfern was warned in Swansea Magistrates' Court on Tuesday that if her business reopened, there would be an application for her to be found in contempt of court.

District judge Neale Thomas told Ms Redfern to "stop listening to the siren voices" when he told her she was to close the business...

Stupid

She appeared in court for Tuesday's hearing, where she was ordered to pay Swansea council's legal costs of £5,265, to which she replied: "I don't want to pay for it."

The court heard environmental health officers visited her business and found no Covid risk assessment had been carried out, there was no hand sanitiser and no proper hand washing facilities.
Stupid

Following the court's decision to shut the cinema, Lee Reynolds, representing Swansea council, told the court if the business reopened there would be an application for Ms Redfern to be found in contempt of court.

"She may receive eventually a custodial sentence," he said.

Richly deserved *if* it happens.

Well at least she didn't cite Magna Carta as a defense for reopening so progress is being made no matter how microscopic.

I don't think Welsh morons default to Magnus Caterer. That's an In-ger-lish thing dating from before Wales was annexed and absorbed by England.

Meanwhile, this was posted on a forum for people with anxiety, with the poster citing "the first point of the Nuremberg Code":

Notice in particular the term “any element of force… or coercion”. This includes losing your job; if it is coercion to demand sexual services from someone in exchange for keeping their job, it is obviously coercion to demand that they inject foreign substances into their body to remain employed.
This means that force, including lethal, is justified in self-defence of oneself or one’s children.

The attempted excuse will be that "the vaccines are not experiments", that "they are a necessary response to a medical emergency". First, there is no medical emergency; fewer people died in 2020 than in 2019 despite the pandemic. Second, the vaccines are literally experimental, with none of them having completed the usual trials before being approved for use on an “emergency” basis.

“It was legal at the time” was not accepted as an excuse at Nuremberg, and it will not be accepted at Nuremberg II: Vaccine Edition.
Explain to me how that helps anyone with anxiety?

It doesn't. It's an attempt by a scumbag(s) to prey on vulnerable people into following & supporting their ideology. Moral cowards is what they are.

This is... desperate?
Some may be accused of trying to dodge the system to get a vaccine certificate, but maybe none as resourceful at this Italian man.

He presented health workers in Biella, north-west Italy, with a fake arm made of silicon [sic]. But despite its realistic colour, nobody was fooled by the limb.

The man, in his 50s, was reported to local police on Thursday night, AFP news agency reports.

"The case borders on the ridiculous, if it were not for the fact we are talking about a gesture of enormous gravity," the head of the Piedmont regional government, Albert Cirio, said in a statement on Facebook.

Such an act was "unacceptable faced with the sacrifice that our entire community has paid during the pandemic, in terms of human lives, the social and economic cost", he added.

Interesting that fraud charges have been brought. Within the Italian justice system, that is one of the least attractive places to find oneself.

Hopefully, they'll roast him alive. Stronso.

There're a few grifters online who've been selling false arms to any anti-vaxxer dumb enough to pay for them.

It gets better/worse for Cinema & Co: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-59527142

A cinema that defied orders to shut after not enforcing Covid pass rules may have to pay back some of the £53,000 it received in Covid grants.

Cinema & Co, in Swansea, ignored a court order to shut for refusing to adhere to Covid regulations.

Swansea council's leader said it would consider whether the money should be recovered if conditions were breached.

The cinema received £52,862 in grants from both the council and the Welsh government, said Rob Stewart. "There has been a significant amount of support provided through the council and from the council for that business," said Mr Stewart, Labour leader of the city council.
