Actually, what does he even mean? The new elite, as I understand it, argue for tolerance of non-traditional families. Does anybody actually say it's better to have lots of kids in your teens, or whatever?

BTL is basically people handing Goodwin his arse, with a couple of predictable exceptions. Paul seems to have located the new elite to my village in Herefordshire. I thought they lived in London, where most people do have more diverse contacts. And anyway, why do I have to be Paul's friend?

So the new elite live pretty much the same lives as John and Jane Doe in Stevenage but shouldn’t tolerate those who don’t because John allegedly doesn’t? Silly man.

What does "preaching diversity" mean? Supporting immigration for economic reasons? Opposing discrimination? A vague sense that we can all enjoy each other's cultural celebrations if the government/council/charities promote them a bit?
