I'm convinced the ULEZ extension will cost Khan his mayoralty.
It might have, if the Tories had put absolutely anyone with even a sliver of name recognition up. As it is, it won’t happen and then by the next election it’ll be forgotten.

Was it only on Monday that I read about how the air in parts of London*outside* the zone contained illegal levels of toxic shite that ULEZ is combatting in central London?
What will it take before people realise they don't have a god-given right to poison themselves and everyone around them, and learn that there are other options available rather than use their cars for every singl journey they make, no matter how short?

See also: "Of course my street should have a 20mph limit. Everyone else's, however, should be 40, and that especially goes for those on my route to the station."

Seen elsewhere today:
Miriam Cates: Labour wants to nationalise our children.

See the villain guy in

"Half the people on this boat will drown!"
"Not the better half".

Better qualified staff in nurseries is "nationalising children", apparently.

How long before this Cates creature announces that Labour are part of the international elite conspiracy group which operates peedo rings from pizza parlours? I think she's heading that way.

The point of spending more on early years is to improve education outcomes among poor kids- quite a few of whom live in her constituency.
Figures show that in Penistone and Stocksbridge more than 3,351 children were in poverty in 2020/21.
That equates to 22.9 per cent of children, or seven children in every classroom of 30 in local schools experiencing child poverty.

Ah, she's done this before. As ever, she/ The Telegraph hides behind "the Treasury" when she means the Conservative government.

I've just looked up what her husband does. He's a managing director of a software firm. As a mother, it's easier to stay at home and have lots of kids when that's the case than it is for other women.

IIRC developed software for food banks to use, then charged them through the nose for it. How very fucking Christian of them.

Cates doesn't allow replies to her tweets. She might learn something about business if she did.

I was thinking of putting this in the transport thread, but it can go here.
The cuts are incredible. LNER, of course, is government owned. As Mr 61 says, private companies would probably be saner than this.

An eight week suspension has been recommended for Chris Pincher.
That's another recall petition, if the house ratifies the report.
