Spike the bastard's guns, if you will. But the opinion polling is on a knife-edge, has been for months, and is suggestive of anything but a clear and emphatic margin of victory if/when Harris wins. Which means that as things stand, we are more or less guaranteed a re-run of Trump's disgraceful behaviour at the 2020 election. I'm fairly sure the bastard has been actively preparing for it for months, if not years. The last thing anybody needs is a second American civil war,
I refer you to 1865, the end of the first American Civil War.

An army that never numbered more than 300,000 has lost 500,000 prisoners.
4 million slaves freed.
The three major "capitals" in flames.
Last field army surrenders.

Almost 160 years later, they fuckers still insist they won, and they're the true Americans.
These guys are hardwired for their cause, and their funding streams are up and running.
I don't think a few tens of electoral college votes is going to deter them.

With the exceptions of a handful, the USA is a collection of small and diverse states that wouldn't have a chance of survival without the structure and support of the other 49. All the state's rights types may rail against the central government, but without it they'd be fucked.

A few thousand over weight cos-players with assault rifles versus the police and National Guard backed by the world's most effective military. How long do you think they'll last in a guerrilla war once the death count starts mounting? The USA is not Afghanistan and they are not the Taliban.

Last time they didn't think it would ever happen. This time they'd shoot on sight.

Last time the sitting President ordered them not to intervene, as I said before, I can't think of any circumstances in which Biden would issue such an order.

I think after the last week or so, the momentum Harris had that seemed to have stalled is back, stronger if anything, and almost *entirely* powered by Trump and his team making fuck-up after fuck-up.

I don’t think it’ll be close now. They’ve frightened too many people.

A speaker at Trump's huge rally is not going to win any new friends among Pennsylvania's 450K Puerto Rican residents.

Really? I think Trump is going to win.

I think worst case scenario now is a win (for Harris) that relies on a swing state that Trump can put pressure on. But I don’t think Trump getting an outright win is on the cards. He just hasn’t got the coalition he needs, and too many republicans won’t vote for him.

I’m also very much enthused by a huge mega-poll of nearly 50,000 (far more than your average 1000-odd poll) showing Harris up by +4 and ahead in most demographics as well.

Germans do not bandy this stuff around lightly, but they recognise what Trump is.

I dare say it might now hinge on swing state voters coming to their senses at the eleventh hour. That rally last night in Madison Square Garden looked fucking mental.

Seen on Bluesky:

A Note from Daily Planet Publisher Morgan Edge:
In the ongoing battle between Superman and Lex Luthor, the Daily Planet has decided not to support either figure. We trust our readers here in Metropolis and elsewhere to make up their own minds. While some may question our decision, calling it an abdication of responsibility, we don't see it that way.
We are merely returning to our roots. I note that the Planet only started endorsing those involved in metahuman conflict in the Crimson Avenger/Ultra-Humanite battles of 1937, for understandable reasons at the time. I accept the resignations of Editor in Chief Perry White, reporter Lois Lane, gossip columnist Cat Grant, politics desk editor Ron Troupe, and staff photographer James Bartholomew Olsen. Steve Lombard, formerly of the sports division, has accepted the role of EIC and will lead the paper to new heights. I am also proud to announce our new Media partnership with LexCorp.

Lex Luthor was objectively a better POTUS than Trump. As was Frank Underwood in House of Cards and Charles Lindbergh in Philip Roth's Plot Against America. Even Stephen King believes his dangerous folksy populist president in the Deadzone was preferable to Trump and God told him to launch the nukes.
There is no point in American fiction writers creating a dystopian president ever again.

Of course the person responsible is now on Twitter whining that people can’t take a joke. Naturally.
