Wording of statements and articles, as Governments and newspapers know all too well, cover a whole manner of bases without actually meaning how they are intended to be interpreted. The Government, we are told, are to offer all adults first jabs by 19 July. They will. Offer that is. It doesn't mean they will get it by then, but it is intended to be interpreted as "needles in arms" by 19 July to make the Government sound good.

I'll have to remember that one for work. "I can offer to do what you ask by next Friday". Then on the Thursday offer to have whatever it is done in three months. " I did say I'd offer before Friday!"

22k positive results yesterday which is a bit worrying. I noticed on Monday the dashboard did say they didn't have all the weekend's results so it would be added onto Tuesday's total.

At the Compulsory Attendance skype meeting this morning we were told three Phase 2 trainees had tested positive and 92 trainees and instrutors are now isolating. There will be three Mobile Testing Units on camp, and everyone *must* go and get a test.

The twice-weekly tests are conducted by the army, and we get the text and email with the results within three hours. The tests we had today were done by SerCo, who "aim to give you the results within two days."

This must be the greater efficiency the Tories tell us we get from the private sector, and for which SerCo were recently given £322 millions of public money.

Farm it out to their private sector mates, wait for them to balls it up, pay them compensation, and get the army in to sort it out.

Brilliant, really - their mates get paid for doing a half arsed job, while the government get a bit of reflected glory off Our Boys (see also the 2012 Olympics).
