It certainly doesn't smack of a close father son bond.

The Tories keep going on about universities indoctrinating young people but if this really has happened it has happened on the Tory's watch.

He was telling an alleged joke not describing his son’s real life. I Iike how Lee thinks students grow their hair long as if they’re Richard Beckinsale in Rising Damp. I grow my hair long as I’m Lee’s real age. Not his Kipper age which is 85.

Is this a new unit of measurement I wasn't previously aware of, akin to "dog years"?

How does it scale?

You work backwards based on the World War two battle you claim to have won.

"During my summer job, I took a Margate pedalo across to the Dunkirk evacuation" - 98.
"I was flying harriers in the Battle of Britain" - 103.
"Using my Meccano set, I invented the Bailey Bridge, the Lancaster Bomber and the Mulberry Harbour" - 95.
"I lied about my age and parachuted into Berlin to storm the Reichstag" - 90.

David Bowie used to be the yardstick when Farage would ask people to cut one of his racist members some slack because you know they’re from a different era. Roger Helmer who looked and sounded like the Major from Fawlty Towers was slightly younger than Bowie.
Lee Anderson is the same age as Damon Albarn.

He's either a danger or as thick as shit.
Why is this an either/or? History records many dangerous people who were as thick as shit. Anderscum is well-placed to join their ranks.

Is there some updated form of Godwin's Law to invoke Thatcher, as in "Even Thatcher wouldn't have put up with this"?

I have long ceased to be shocked or outraged by anything Anderson says - by anything any Tory says, or their well-spoken, church-going apologists.

By the time the GE comes, civil society in the UK will have been destroyed completely and utterly. I could wish horrors to be visited upon each and every last one of them, but that would merely bring me down to their level and I have no desire to be that person any more.

Are we putting foreigners up in a luxury cruise ship or is it a floating prison to deter these people coming?
Wish they’d make up their minds.

Probably best to ignore these kinds of remarks as it reflects the majority of opinion even among those who aren’t against ‘genuine refugees.’

"Good enough for the likes of them" would sum up their views, I think.

I don't think it's an exaggeration now to say that some people would be happy to see every asylum seeker dead. Then every Muslim, then every benefits claimant.

Sadly, I think you're right.

I see Chalk was sent out to do the rounds today: he came out with the following -

Lee Anderson expresses the righteous indignation of the British people. Yeah, he does it in salty terms and that’s his style. But his indignation is well placed.

People are coming from a safe country. France is a signatory to the European convention on human rights, and people should claim asylum in the first country. It shouldn’t be like a sort of open shopping list of where you want to go.

So he expresses himself in his characteristically robust terms, but there is a lot of sense, in my respectful view, in what Lee says.
You do not speak for me.

No way does Alex Chalk think Anderson is anything but a fool.

Keep repeating a lie won’t make it come true.

It wasn't true when Otto Frank did it, and it isn't true now.

The news media (especially LBC) are making an enormous fuss because Lee Anderson said “fuck” in an interview this morning with Nick Mussolini, sorry, Ferrari. Various senior Tories have been on squirming and equivocating pathetically about whether they approve (they don’t, but won’t/can’t say so because they want to back up their xenophobic agenda) of 30p Lee’s salty language.

But I don’t give a toss about Anderson saying fuck. I do give (something of) a fuck about the Tories’ gallumphing “strategy” for shoring up its core vote. The performative callousness of Anderson is stomach turning, but banging on about refugees in boats is about all they’ve got left to try and persuade the wankers who always turn out to vote Tory not to decide to stay at home this time .

Anderson is plainly a cipher for this “strategy”. He is thicker than a boxing day turd, but he just might get the job done - which is why Sunak gave him the job.

Problem they have is Anderson is only good for this sort of nonsense, but applies it with no filter. So when he’s out on the GE campaign trail and a Tory voter says they don’t want an immigrant barge in their area, or no fracking, or no windfarms, he’ll be as unsubtle with them and they won’t take that well at all.

Plus he’s so thick coupled with his clear greed/self entitlement, I’m certain he’ll be caught on the fiddle of *something* sooner rather than later.
