If you are a serious journalist like Alistair Stewart, Colin Brazier or Simon McCoy you really can't be comfortable with the idea that somebody with no journalistic experience or qualification being given such a high profile position.

That's a lot of prime time tv fronted by a non-presenter.

I see they got Andrew Neil back. Shouldn't he be doing the 2 hour show, not Farage?

Farage TV isn't a great profile for advertisers.

The Lisa Potts phenomenon as it was once known.

It’s not as if he’s going to add anything new or original

I wonder if Piers Morgan will now reconsider? They seem to have made their decision about moving closer to mainstream.

By hiring Farage , it doesn’t look like they’re doing that but LBC accommodated him and strictly neutral journalistic heavyweight Matt Frei. But LBC has cleared the boards of populist blowhards. Even Andrew Pierce who says unbelievably stupid things, behaves himself. GBN are seeing what will stick but I doubt Roland the racist rat will save the sinking ship.

I saw it written in another place, that it’s the first time a rat has joined a sinking ship

Roland Rat was trending for a while on Twitter yesterday. Partly for the same reason, and increasingly from people saying that the comparison was an insult to Roland Rat.

Quite. On one hand we're talking about a creature known for rummaging through trash and knee deep in excrement.

The other one had a gerbil mate that shared my name.

Another fully paid up member of The Leopards Eating People's Faces Party speaks:

Welsh broadcaster Guto Harri blasts GB News as an ‘absurd parody’

Guto Harri has blasted GB News as an ‘absurd parody’ that is pandering to the far right.

The Welsh broadcaster was speaking out after his recent dismissal from the ‘anti woke’ channel for having taken the knee while presenting a live show.

He describes how he faced a ‘tsunami of disappointment, resentment and hate’ after his on-air gesture had offended the ‘lynch mob’.

In a Sunday Times column, he says: “I joined, part-time but with an ongoing commitment because I liked and trusted those in charge and supported the broad vision.

“But the channel is rapidly becoming an absurd parody of what it proclaimed to be. Rather than defending free speech and confronting cancel culture, it has set out to replicate it on the far right.”
He says that his taking the knee was not unplanned and that, ‘immediately before going on air, I mentioned that I was considering making the gesture. “If you do it, do it to camera three,” I was told.’

He also rejects claims that his actions had caused the ratings to plummet, saying that the ‘figures actually dropped pretty swiftly after launch and kept slipping.’

This is an hilarious article from Farage in the Telegraph

GB News can do to broadcasting what Ukip did to politics

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/0 ... -politics/
There is no getting away from the fact that it has been a tough few days for GB News. The decision by one of its presenters to take the knee live on air horrified the base of viewers that the relatively new channel had built up. I know this to be the case because I received emails from several people saying, effectively, “This makes it worse than the BBC.”
The fact that only several people emailed him just goes to show how irrelevant Farage has now become.

...horrified the base of viewers...
In which the new employee admits the company he now works for is specifically targeted at ignorant racist pricks.

It's refreshing to hear manfrog actually tell the truth for once in his miserable pointless waste of a life.

Is Neil back in saddle? Not sure his traditional journalism with a centre right twist has won the day. Is he now Kevin the Gerbil to Nigel's Roland?

Neil's back for an hour a night. Farage gets 2 hours.
