Some good PIRLS scores for reading by England announced today.
We can argue whether that's sustainable given recruitment problems, and criticise the balance with promoting wellbeing, and the value for money of some of the structures. But it's undeniably an achievement. Where's the government, calmly taking plaudits? If it is, I haven't noticed. But I have noticed the Home Secretary and other MPs queuing up to slag off the schools that got this done as being woke disaster zones.
"Everything's shit and we've been in charge" is about as much as a winner as it was for Labour in the early 80s.

Quotes an infamous antisemite (GK Chesterton) on a rant about metropolitan liberals and cultural Marxists. Classy.

I genuinely don’t understand what that bizarre rant was even about. It just seemed to suggest that you should find shit schools for your kids that teach them to be arseholes, then watch Gladiator??!?
Also, interesting choice of film - a lowly immigrant coming back from being shown his place and taking on a personality cult fascist leader and winning. You’d have thought that’d be a horror story to them,

Birbalbollocks doesn't seem like the sort to seek out opposing views. What's this "everybody else agrees with each other" lark? They don't.

Far as I can tell, in the Tory mindset there is only war. They're losing the kids so the solution is to be even harder on them. Brutalise the woke out of them.
As for the "everyone agreeing" thing, this sounds much like the crap spewed by Toby Young, Katie Hopkins etc, this conceit that if they're just given an opportunity to air their views, people will magically convert to their way of thinking.
Obviously not true, it's more like how religious cults work - send the messengers out to preach the word, knowing they'll get a hostile reception, which will reinforce their loyalty to the cult as the one group that understands, unlike those awful other people.

'Everyone agreeing' is a sign of intellectual non-development. They lack cognitive empathy, therefore they also lack compassion. They cannot understand the views of other people, or even that other people have views different from their own.
This is the Theory of Mind,
Wiki wrote: In psychology, theory of mind refers to the capacity to understand other people by ascribing mental states to them (that is, surmising what is happening in their mind). This includes the knowledge that others' mental states may be different from one's own states and include beliefs, desires, intentions, emotions, and thoughts. Possessing a functional theory of mind is considered crucial for success in everyday human social interactions.
Usually this develops in well adjusted, neurotypical individuals about the age of four. There is empirical evidence that individuals who do not develop a Theory of Mind are neurodiverse. It may be linked to autism.

The what? To quote Don Logan in Sexy Beast, "All right, I'll make it fucking easy for you".
A bunch of on the make politicos chucking around the idea their fringe nonsense represents the nation is bad. Respected organisations that attempt to serve the whole nation, that's not bad.

Their aim is not to win the next general election. It's to win the next leadership election.

Why can't I stop thinking that National Conservatism is only a short step away from National Socialism?
I really don't feel comfortable about the direction these fuckwits are going in.

It's taking a leaf from their 'murican Republican cousins - once the party of free enterprise & limited government, they're now starting to put into law elements of government control that would not have looked out of place with certain historical communist eastern European authorities.

Sounds more like the fucking Taliban to me.
Seriously though, I share your concern. These fucking psychopaths do have to be prevented from ever getting their hands anywhere near the instruments of government in the UK again. This is why the coming election is so vitally important, and why there is a frankly awesome responsibility upon the Labour Party and Keir Starmer to firstly, stop these extremists from doing any more damage, and secondly, to begin repairing the appalling damage they and their chums have done over the last 13 years.
It's also a grave responsibility that Jeremy Corbyn and those who elected him leader wilfully, shamefully, and, you have to say, knowingly, shirked, to almost everybody's cost , effectively wasting seven years in which we could, and should, have had a Labour government , instead of the wantonly destructive band of self-enriching turds we continue to suffer to this day.

What does he (edit- not John Hayes) mean by "faith", eh? It's a mystery.
I can recall it being pointed out to a Tory MP in the mid nineties by Darcus Howe that black people went to church.

Not proper churches, though. They go to those Black churches with loud music and shouting.

Or "Famille, Travail, Patrie", as the Vichy French put it.

They don't seem overkeen on the proper churches led by the Archbishop of Canterbury either.
