This could backfire quite nicely. All those Gammons are going to see a load of Muslim men harassing a Batley lass and there's no longer a need to vote Tory cos good ol' Bojo got Brexit done.

Doubt it, Batley’s MP getting capped in a referendum by a Brexiter didn’t generate much pause for thought.

The school protest's biggest gobshites weren't local either. The damage done to the area is very local though. Not that damage is local only, of course.
Tis often the way.
Several years back we had a lobby group complaining there wasn't a mosque in the local area.
This was discrimination, they said, and they'd identified a suitable plot (the grounds of the local non-denominational school).
This caused a lot of bad feeling.
Staunch believers (and a few bussed in) turning up in numbers with this new grievieance.
The more "woke" of the Muslim community realising, this was a trap that wouldn't serve their community at all well.
Indigenous locals concerned at proposals for a religious building on a non-denominational school grounds, the implications for site access, and the likely crowbar effect on placing requests.
Turns out the instigator was a minor academic at Stirling University, with something of a record for this sort of thing.
Fortunately it all died down before the Muslim community suffered a serious rift.

Bones' anecdote above shows just how easy it is to push people's buttons, and how willing people are to believe any old bollocks if it confirms their prejudices.

Crucial differences, 1. that was before the referendum, let alone before we left the EU and 2. her murderer was a white local Brexiter and not a Muslim from Birmingham.

Razor sharp analysis from Michael Crick here.
How come? Because he's a fraud, Michael. You wrote the book on Jeffrey Archer, you should know the score.

Reports of Labour canvassers being attacked, knocked down and kicked. Police called (by the PCC who was present).
Galloway has a lot to answer for, and there is a very big elephant in this room.

And the rioting season will soon be upon us.

I'm thinking more of increased pressure on schools and others to follow the dictates of a vociferous and often violent minority.

Galloway is out of his fucking mind. He seems to think it's illegal to say you're not voting for him.

Galloway acts like a deposed banana republic dictator in exile but he's never held power. The consolation of this debacle is that Starmer has established himself as someone Galloway and his rancid supporters won't vote for.

Actual leader of Camden Tories here, posting a pamphlet with the key text blacked out by Guido Fawkes, to accuse Labour of hating Indians.
The text is absolutely fine, by the way. It criticizes Johnson for being too keen to make deals with Modi to stick up for human rights in Kashmir, and also that Johnson is a complete Islamophobe. Fair comment.

The proper online left have are on the case. Kim Leadbetter is a Tory because she thinks recurring spending should generally be funded from tax and fees, rather than just borrowed forever.
I dunno, Aaron. Maybe all the governments in the world are missing this easy MMT/ "na na na debt" approach of yours. Perhaps Bangladesh could have a British NHS if it sacked all the neoliberal squares in the finance ministry.

Rumpole of the Bailey is on the case.
Is he this stupid, or is he preaching to a choir of idiots who think saying something uncomplimentary about a politician is a police matter?
