Utterly hopeless in front of the select committee today. So much so that he declared being asked when he began his holiday as "a partisan question".

Several Tories circling the wagons around him and saying that he was subjected to party political attacks. Cue responses of "and which party is Tom Tugendhat a member of, again?".
Struck me as fucked and not giving two shits any more.

Did any of them, ever?

After Raab failed on 11 occasions to answer a question the Express ran a headline along the lines of Raab shuts down Labour MPs who kept asking the same question. Because that is exactly the job of a minister to shutdown opposition MPs rather than actually answering the questions.

Tobias Ellwood wants a public inquiry. He may not have been entirely satisfied by Raab today.

So big balls Dom shows who’s in charge by clipping an MP’s wings on his first day. This won’t end well for Raab even among his own backbenches. He has power without respect or authority.

In response to Emma Kennedy's question.
I assume the Home Sec has final approval over any prison visits.
The sort of power that's intended for use in emergencies, like a godfather issuing orders to visitors ...
It's typical of Johnson's mob to use any means to inconvenience their perceived enemies.

It must be that.
Sounds very odd to me that the governing governor (prisons have several people with governor titles) would need consent from the Minister though.

The Guardian reports that Raab is already having a spat with Liz Truss over a grace and favour mansion.

Somehow I can never see Margaret Beckett - or even William Hague - arguing the toss over a mansion.
It's the sheer entitlement that gets me most.

Yeah. That'd work.
Providing, of course, all low level offenders have the relevant categories on their driving licences, or have actually *got* driving licences, and aren't already employed elsewhere.
Keep it up, lad. You're doing well. At this rate you might say something sensible by Easter 2037.

Hey, Dominic. I like your optimistic talk about offenders. I'm sure this is your consistent belief.
Next time you're away with work, can I bring a bunch of low level offenders round to clean your windows?

Talking of drivers, I wonder if Dom would like some criminals to come round and pick his family up next time they need taking to the airport? Trust given and all that.
