Ha ha ha ha ha. If this is the expectation of the faithful, then Sunak's done.

In which we learn that, according to The Express, the Chancellor of the Exchequer doesn't understand what "inflation" means.

The underrated commuter town that used to be England's capital instead of London

Colchester probably isn't the place you'd think used to be the capital of England, but it was.

No it wasn't. Roman Britain =/= modern England.

Thick as mince.

One of our reporters went home for the weekend and picked up a tourist info leaflet at Birchanger services on the M11.

This really is a whole new level of Brexit desperation. I wonder what Beaverbrook would make of it.

In related news, I'm sorted for next month's mortgage payment as I found a tenner in my old jeans

Reminds me of when, a few years back, the Express had the headline "Brit wins Tour de France!" (this was in the pre-Wiggins and Froome days when British cycling wasn't exactly setting the world on fire). The article explained that what had actually happened was Mark Cavendish had won the final sprint on the last day.

Express readers might be less than enamoured by the fact that the only thing they can still chew is racing towards two-quid a tin. I doubt that they make the connection. however.

What are Express readers like? Not sure I agree with James here. Do they live in villages and right on the outskirts of towns? More of a Telegraph thing, I'd guess.

I've always thought Express readers live in 1930s semis in the suburbs, drive an old Rover and didn't used to like foreigners much but the Patels next door are very nice.

But aren’t all new houses being built just for “boat people”?

There is a "good news" story behind that absurd tuna headline.

In brief (something I struggle with).
1. Tuna were considered near extinct in British waters.
2. A 10 year "catch, tag and release" programme involving sea anglers showed their return to viable levels.
3. There's now a 43 tonne annual quota for 10 line fishing boats.

There's likely an unwritten subtext that trawlermen could have tracked the revival through their "throw away".
That involves a very complex critique of modern industrial fishing and the EU's approach to regulation.

Feeble attempt at a fake scandal here by the Express' ex Guido man.
