This "tax cut" would save me around a tenner a month. I'm salivating as I type just thinking of the countless stuff I can do with that

Saves me zero. Then again the tax rise cost me zero as well.

Didn’t Sunak’s changes in July do this anyhow.

Well you can’t argue that Kwarteng’s policies don’t get results. Shit ones, but results nonetheless.

Macroeconomics lesson 94 - the market does not give a shit about your patriotism.

Blimey, that is absolutely hideous.

Simple as I am, I believe that they are trying to bribe the remnants of their base. "They are making me too wealthy to give a shit about anyone else."

I fear that base already thinks that. It's electorally weird. Surely their gambit is their fantasy will work, and thus growth thus hurrah riches for... Well, the 2%.

Lower taxes distract from rising costs and deterioration of public services, and come the next election they hope survivor bias ("it can't have been that bad - I'm still here") kicks in.

Giving people money back is an interesting tactic when your actions make that money - and the vast sums of wealth they already have - worth less and less.

10 grand in tax saved is not to be sneezed at. But will it really mean wiping millions off of currency portfolios and investments is forgiven?

That’s a big gamble, as many have said. Or as I would say, a really fucking stupid idea not through through, fed to a vastly out of his depth chancellor by a very limited PM via a right-wing thinktank whose ideas are all horse shit.

We're now into the territory of a dictator fleeing with everything that isn't nailed down, on the last plane out before the rebels take the airport.

At this rate, the Bank of England will be open on Saturday.

At this rate it’ll be the Food Bank of England by next Thursday.

Inflation and tanking currency make investing in stocks and shares more attractive but they’re diving as well. Surprised it didn’t happen under Johnson rather than Truss’s neoliberal* fire sale.

As the wonderfully named Kamakwazi takes the pound to 1.09 USD, I am reminded of the first time I went to New York.

The binding memory was having gone up the WTC. It is now obscured by getting less than a Yankee dollar for each of my crisp Pictures of the Queen.

That was a financial bloodbath, albeit largely my own.

Kwasi has one fan. This is the actual Tory Leader of the GLA, applying rigorous timeless economic criteria like "own the Libs"
