Per the Secret Barrister that was a criminal arrest, not an immigration raid.

And shots like this may lead to trials being abandoned or prejudiced. Her actions turn a criminal matter into a political one.
Not that she or her supporters care. If that happens, it's more evidence of lefty lawyers and a rigged system, justifying her approach. If not, she succeeds, justifying her approach. Hell, what she wants are lynch mobs.

But notably it looks like an immigration raid. She knows how it'll go over. And even if it is a legit raid, having her gloating away on the sidelines is really fucking awful.

Batten down the hatches.
I predict strong gusts of "No Murdoch issue here, look at Martin Bashir".
Loser Fox and Toby Young along in 5 to rattle their "Defund the BBC" cans.

Patel was posing amongst the police doing what they are supposed to be doing but had been hampered from doing so because of 20,000 of their colleagues being thrown out of their job who would otherwise be catching alleged people smugglers who are cashing in on the opportunities which have arisen because of the policies of...Priti Patel.
Right, got it.

I don't think she comes across well from that photo- she looks like Winston Churchill at Sidney Street, except a million times worse

She did seem to call people on trial "criminals" once and all.

My mistake, she doesn't necessarily want lynch mobs. She wants corporate cops shooting anyone who looks out of place.

Can't have the public running anything where a private enterprise could be making a profit, now.

From Byline Times today:

The Home Secretary lobbied a chief constable to end an Extinction Rebellion protest that was blocking a newspaper print works owned by Rupert Murdoch, a court heard today.

The Home Secretary should run the Police from Whitehall. Or News International's head office.

Good thread here. Government pissing away soft power (BBC, universities) for short term political gain.

Telling HMG that they won't fund the World Service from the licence fee any more would rattle a few cages in Westminster.

I assume funding the World Service was part of the deal agreed with the government.

It used to be a Grant In Aid direct from the Foreign Office until 2014 - see

Yeah, I know. I meant that I expect the BBC agreed to carry on funding it as part of a deal with the government.
More from Priti here. The headline isn't clickbait.
