Sadly I feel the only person who can beat Trump is Biden.
Strangely he has been the most progressive US president

Yep, Trump is Biden's greatest asset.

If it’s true that significant numbers of Republican voters will refuse to vote Republican if Trump is the candidate (and may even vote for Biden instead), then that’s a small, but welcome, comfort.

That's what they say and, with Trump's candidacy all but certain, it's hard to see their motive to lie. It seems insurrection, treason and rape are red lines, even for some Republicans.

Oh dear. There is of course, no such verb as "to coronate". A "coronation" entails the process of crowning, not some fucking imagined word idiotically extrapolated from the noun "coronation".

What I can’t fathom - and I sincerely hope the polls eventually reflect this - is how anyone who didn’t vote for Trump before would consider voting for him this year (assuming he’s the candidate). He’s objectively worse now than he was then by every measurable objective, and he’s pissed off more people and crossed more red lines since 2020, so you would only assume his vote would be in freefall.
It’s mystifying. How is anyone coming round to him, or expecting he’ll be better this time?

They're Americans.
Show them any old bollocks and half of them will believe it.

The economy. Lots of people who aren't loons believe that the Republicans are better with it. Hopefully 2 more quarters of good figures will minimise this.

It also hasn't helped that media outlets have often downplayed good economic news in favour of emphasing inflation.

Nor them blaming the stimulus for it. In retrospect, it was a very good bottom up recovery.

We are right to be fearful at a molecular level. During my lifetime, we have never witnessed such a clear and present danger.
Nonetheless, Trump has never won the popular vote.

An online preacher promised me big returns from his cryptocurrency.
A Colorado-based pastor for an online church accused of pocketing $1.3 million through a cryptocurrency fraud scheme told followers in a video statement that the Lord told him to do it.
Eli Regalado and his wife marketed their cryptocurrency, INDXcoin, to Christian communities in Denver, saying God told him people would become wealthy if they invested, the Colorado Division of Securities said in a statement Thursday.
INDXcoin raised nearly $3.2 million, the Securities Division said. At least $1.3 million of that went directly to the Regalados or was "used for their own personal benefit," said a complaint filed Tuesday in Denver County District Court. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna135143

A Pennsylvania man has been arrested after allegedly killing his father, before displaying his decapitated head in a gruesome YouTube video while spouting right-wing conspiracy theories.
Justin Mohn, 32, is accused of killing his father, Michael Mohn, police told NBC News. While police did not release the victim’s age, public records show him to have been 68.
Mohn was taken into custody about 100 miles away from the crime scene on suspicion of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and possessing an instrument of crime with intent, according to a court docket released early Wednesday.
He was arraigned at 4 a.m. and denied bail, Middletown Township Police Capt. Pete Feeney said.
In the YouTube video, which was titled "Mohn's Militia - Call To Arms For American Patriots" and is cited in a police complaint, Mohn is seen wearing gloves and holding his father's head in a plastic bag. Later, the head can be seen in a cooking pot.
