Hold on, that's a sweeping generalisation.
I'm a republican, but I'm not showing contempt for anyone. Neither are any of the others of republican leanings here, or that I've seen. Incomprehension, perhaps, but not contempt.

I think this says a lot about a problem Republicans have they really can't help but show contempt for anyone for those who actuslly like the Royal Family.
I'm a Republican. Not a head on the guillotine type, but handing the estates over to the National Trust, that kind of thing.
You need to be a bit better at making the argument that Lewis is at any time, let alone now. I don't think he's important enough for it to make much difference though.

Ok contempt is a strong word and I take it back but I do think that Republicans need to try and win people to their cause.

I am a soft republican, basically because I don't care unless it winds up those soap-dodgers of the criminal enterprise in the east end of Glasgow or their spoon-burning chums in Leith.
I don't hold these queuers in contempt but I do pity them; show me one of these pathetic souls who didn't have a Donny Osmond (other heartthrobs are available) poster on their bedroom wall.
Their intellectual and emotional lifeboat for justifying the absurdity of how they choose to spend the weekend is pitch-perfect parroting in Witchellese. Every soundbite is about service, dignity, and a hellava selfless shift.
Asking them what that actually means would be cruel. You'd get the same answer as to why they think Joris Bohnson is a man of the people.
It is the self-same utter bollocks which sells the Chinese-printed tea-towels and Franklin Mint porcelain tat, and ushers thieving toffs in to Government.
(I think I hid my contempt pretty well there...)

I feel sorry for them, sort of, in a rather vague and unfocussed way.

I’ve been trying to understand them, and generally not succeeding. I find it particularly difficult to comprehend how their unequivocally uncritical attitude to the monarchy in so many cases contrasts so starkly with their paranoid “criticisms” of anything progressive, mostly as dictated by the Daily Express.

@kreuzberger , BTW, we skumped the criminal enterprise from the East End of Glasgow good style today !

Perhaps its the heart felt sentiment that isn’t from the heart. Kreuz is right you’ll hear very few original personal perspectives about the Queen’s long reign.

I also have my suspicions that this media student was a CCP agent.

Anyhow I think Starmer has been good all week on this, even when the Mirror edited what he said about those protesting.

There's far too much of this stuff, on left and right. See also, "the BBC is just like Russia Today".

Why was John Wick violent, out on the town with Ronnie Pickering?

That Damian account has got to be some sort of parody, surely? Starmer seems to be living rent free inside his brain, judging by his latest tweets.

Someone I know quite well from Brighton told me he is very real.
I’m glad we have stricter gun controls.
