Isn't that likely to be an outlier? The Democrats are doing very well in special elections.

They do seem to have a problem with fentanyl over there.

I have a prescribed supply of Oxycodone, the less boisterous wee brother of Fentanyl. The 10 mg ones are usually supplied after surgery, but the 20 mg dose barely knocks the froth off my lower spine pain, even though I only take them on an infrequent basis.

They work well with red wine, mind. It's a low trajectory, fluffy high and guarantees a great night's sleep. It's easy to see why Fentanyl is so satanically attractive.

You must be in a lot of pain.

These days I rattle so much and worry about contra-indications that I try not to take any analgesics at all. I'm pretty much limited to paracetamol anyway.

For all that media reached a certain saturation point with stuff about Oxycontin and the Sacklers, so much of the current spiral in drug abuse and ultimately, the whole fentanyl thing comes back to base greed, lying and the complete absence of a functional health system in the States.

Looking at the polls over there it seemed just the one others do give slight leads, nothing that particularly would concern me at this moment, remember Trump isn't yet the candidate however it plays out.

Not likely he won't be looking at that joke of a debate last night.

Even if Trump’s on death row he’ll still clinch the GOP nomination. Have heard a theory that Biden will play swithcheroo and stand aside for a candidate that can still walk unaided.

That sounds a bit like the "if Bernie wins they'll just install X". Not very likely.

You can imagine the comments.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... chest.html
This is the shocking moment a 21-year-old YouTuber prankster's stunt went badly wrong when a deliver driver he was targeting pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest.

Video shows Tanner Cook, 21, who runs the Classified Goons YouTube channel, harassing Alan Colie as he picked up a food order at the Dulles Town Center mall in Sterling, Virginia, on April 2.

Cook can be seen following Colie around the mall while thrusting his phone in his face as it plays the bizarre phrase, 'Hey dips**t, quit thinking about my twinkle' multiple times using a Google Translate app.

Colie backs away from Cook and tells him to stop three times before trying to knock the phone away from his face as the YouTuber continues to advance towards him.

It was at this point that Colie's stunt went badly wrong when the delivery driver pulled out a gun and shot the YouTuber in the lower left chest.

I think it was Charlie Brooker who observed that "prankster" used to mean the likes of Jeremy Beadle going to elaborate lengths to set up stunts; but since the rise of Jackass, Dirty Sanchez etc, it had come to mean just being a jerk to people.

I take it Tanner Cook has learned a valuable lesson. In a fractured and crumbling backward society that is awash with guns, you don't harass total strangers. Did he deserve to get shot for acting like a cunt? No. Of course he didn't. But, in "the greatest country on earth" that is always a likely outcome.

I assume the NRA will send him thoughts and prayers and lobby the government for more guns.

Cook looks a large imposing figure you might not want to give a smack in the mouth to. A tasering might have been appropriate.

This is a very good article on how American media fail to adequately cover Trump.

https://www.forkingpaths.co/p/the-case- ... s-insanity
We live in dangerous times — when citizens need top quality information to make informed, wise choices. But the press is failing to meet the moment. This isn’t some cheap shot at “the media.” It’s a good faith critique of a key democratic institution that hasn’t adapted enough to a dangerous authoritarian threat.

There are now two leading candidates for the American presidency.

One of them is a 77 year-old racist, misogynist bigot who has been found liable for rape, who incited a deadly, violent insurrection aimed at overturning a democratic election, who has committed mass fraud for personal enrichment, who is facing 91 separate counts of felony criminal charges against him, and who has overtly discussed his authoritarian strategies for governing if he returns to power.

The other is 80 years old with mainstream Democratic party views who sometimes misspeaks or trips. (There may be other reasons to criticize Joe Biden, but the main one discussed in the press is his age).

One of those two candidates faces relentless newspaper columns and TV pundit “takes” arguing that he should drop out of the race. (Spoiler alert: it’s somehow *not* the racist authoritarian sexual abuse fraudster facing 91 felony charges).
