No. Maybe. Ernest Bevin wouldn't have liked it, after all they were drafting conscripts into the mines, but that was partly due to miners volunteering to fight. I don't think he would have been conscripted into the forces.

With Anderson there's always a maybe. It's unlikely, but there's always a get-out that he might not be lying.

That Boat is probably about £1300 - £1500 per week. So not exactly affordable for a family on a low income.
