Unbelievably Sunak has decided to come out fighting. He's done an interview with Harry Cole, in which we learn it's all fine because she's from India and will want to return to look after her parents one day.

Perhaps the next defence is that she didn't mean to tick the box that said "pay £30k and it'll save you millions". Just like Alan Partridge accidentally clicked "Yes" when asked if he wanted to watch Bangkok Chick Boys.

This doesn't seem like particularly straight talking politics from the Government here. I think I prefer that Starmer guy who was only waffly because he was trying to acknowledge trans people exist.

Obviously the last two points are bullshit. But the first looks dodgy too. You don't have to "base yourself" in a tax haven to benefit from it. What an odd choice of words. This can get even worse.

Cole conspired with Sunak to lie to Sun readers about the weather and was caught out by the Met office https://fullfact.org/economy/2021-winte ... e-weather/

The chancellor’s inventions about Brexit and the economy are even more ridiculous but the media decides to get its teeth into this non-dom status issue. Like Al Capone’s tax affairs, its a result of sorts.

Did Sunak obtain this Green Card through his own merits or from his wife? Whose financial affairs thoroughly modern Rishi separates with a Chinese wall.

Stephen Kinnock got into hot water over non-dom status in Switzerland when his wife was Danish PM. I’ll read up on how they crisis managed that one. Better than the Sunaks, I bet.

I assume someone has the knives out for Sunak. Either Liz Truss’s camp or No 10 tiring of Sunak’s disloyalty and tall poppy photoshoots. At least he’s not noticeably interested in culture war crap but Rishi’s not passionate about anything politically. But like David Cameron; ‘I’d be jolly good at running the country.’

You know you've sunk pretty low when even something stuck to the bottom of your shoe can legitimately call you out.

Stephen Kinnock's case was a bit different- he was accused of illegal tax evasion by breaking a fairly straightforward law on how long you could spend out of Denmark without paying tax there. He worked in Switzerland and paid tax there and joined his wife in Denmark when he wasn't working. He was cleared by the Danish tax authorities. Must be fairly common for people to work in one country and live in another at weekends, I'd have thought.

Although I wonder how Messers Bank’s and Trice’s dealings would stand up to scrutiny

I do hope this results in Sunak deciding to leak some more nefarious goings on at No. 10. After all, who better to report on illegal parties than a pissed off neighbour?

This is definitely all starting to develop a season finale feeling though, to be topped off by an imminent bloodbath.

No tax advantage in this, and hassle of doing US tax returns, but a bit odd for the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer. The US authorities look like they said "Hang on, mate, this is for people who are serious about living and working in the US....".

He's finished. By election soon, and new career as tech bro to follow.

Well well. I guess Labour weren't being racist misogynists after all then.

Is she going to stick to this if Rishi's off anyway?

I guess that's what happens when you are so keen to get rid of the Saj that you don't do any due diligence on the gimpy kid with the nice teeth and a wi-fi enabled coffee mug.

Hell fucking mend them.

He was a rare Brexiter who looked and sounded forward looking.

Malcolm Tucker got Nicola Murray to take her daughter out of private school before she became a minister. You'd think the Tories had somebody like that in the back room for them.
