A worrying scenario if Johnson becomes a liability and the party moves against him (they can’t wait); He only has his codependent relationship with the Brexit cultists (ERG and DUP) to fall back on. Next up to throw the cult red meat, in the forever war with Brussels, is seeing through the threat to renege on the Northern Ireland protocol. The consequences of a trade war with the EU and possibly the US are obviously dire. Would Johnson take the country down with him to muster the troops?

I don't think so. He's basically a coward who loves to talk a good fight but will back off when faced with actual problems.

If and when he goes, he'll slump off back to the Telegraph to whinge about how great he could have been and how shit his successor is. Most likely from somewhere warm.

Johnson sought to strike a similarly elevated tone. There were serious moments in his speech: he mentioned a responsibility to future generations, for example, and to “children not yet born”.

Johnson’s Cop26 address was met with stony silence. The prime minister left pauses for laughs. They never came.

It appears that no-one with a mental age over 14 is impressed with our Prime Minister. Quelle surprise.

It's two years now since a couple of us on here broached the concept of a slo-mo coup. In fairness, there was little push back at the time. Now, there can be even less doubt.

Given the issues rumbling on, I think Dacre was a shoo-in but might now find himself dumped at the 11th hour because of the current fallout. Which would be entirely fitting.

I think Boaty McBoatface is a splendid example of making sure that if you ask a question, you make sure you’re asking the *right* question and have thought about the consequences. B McB and brexit alike are examples of people not thinking it through, making assumptions, then having to awkwardly deal with the fallout of the unexpected (to them) result.

Is Johnson being advised by a Labour plant? Just today he’s run away from the sleaze debate, refused to rule out a peerage for Paterson (which means he’s getting a peerage to keep him sweet), refuses any sort of apology and has tried to strongarm the Standards Commissioner by saying she should not look into his flat refurb at all.

It’s not just failing to read the room. It’s walking into the room, shitting in the middle of the floor, shouting to everyone that there’s shit in the room and then demanding someone clean it up.
