Reporting on Trump’s weekly psycho dramas kept journos busy and pumped up. Biden can only offer the thinniest of gruel delivered by a sane human being.

Out of interest I wonder how the frequency of his visits compares with that of the Orange Buffoon to his assorted golf resorts during his presidency...

Climate's back in the news now, so it seemed topical to a notorious datestamp-ignorer like me.

Sorry for dragging this thread back to Giuliani yet again, but just look who has opened an account at "Celebrity Shoutouts" website Cameo earlier this week! Perhaps we should band together and ask Rudy to send Mailwatch some kind words of support?

Only found three others I've heard off; Tom Arnold (why hasn't this man work?), Penn Jillette (he doesn't need the dosh, surely?) and Sarah Palin. She's only £186.50, lets get her for a Mailwatch greeting.

It's often said that Americans don't understand socialism. Well it seems that American socialists don't understand socialism either.

https://www.vice.com/en/article/n7bmd7/ ... -socialism
Nathan J. Robinson, editor-in-chief of the socialist magazine Current Affairs, has fired most of its staff for trying to start a worker co-op, workers wrote in a letter posted on Twitter on Wednesday morning.

"We, the former full and part-time staff, write to you with deep sadness and disappointment about the recent events that have occurred at Current Affairs," a letter signed by five fired staffers said.

"On August 8th, editor-in-chief Nathan J. Robinson (author of Why You Should Be a Socialist) unilaterally fired most of the workforce to avoid an organizational restructuring that would limit his personal power. Yes, we were fired by the editor-in-chief of a socialist magazine for trying to start a worker co-op."

One of the fired editors, Cate Root, posted on Twitter about the firings. "It was a profound pleasure to help writers bring the best version of their work to the public. It brought me so much joy and meaning, and I will miss it terribly," she wrote.

Reading that reminded me that I broke a promise to a sadly-departed friend: when I told her I'd joined the ranks of the Capitalist Bastards, she smiled and said "I'll forgive you if you turn your business into a workers' co-op."

I nearly did, too...

Another forum has a guy (Say's he's a Doctorate in history), posting vast quantities (10,000 posts in 6 months) of NeoConferederate nonsense.
What we in the UK might consider "revisionist history".

In 6 months he's veered from The South were the good guys, through Q-anon BS to poorly disguised Aryan Brotherhood stuff.

Turns out he's an inmate mentor at this place.

On a similar track:

Georgia has 31 state prisons and just one substance abuse centre.

This is a major worry. Ludicrous recall process in California could turf the not particularly unpopular Democrat Governor and replace him with a Trumper radio host.

In other news, 3 more red states could get Medicaid expansion ballots- Florida, Mississippi and South Dakota. Surprised they didn't do ballots earlier.

As of 2018, the Democrats finally enjoy veto-proof supermajorities at all levels of the Californian state legislature, so I can't see why they didn't amend this nonsensical process when they had the chance.

I doubt California will be dumb enough to let this happen, but it could pose a massive problem if Elder somehow manages to squeak home, bearing in mind that one of California's U.S. senators is the 88yo Dianne Feinstein.

Lord only knows what the fascination is with these elderly senators clinging on to power for so many years; several of her Feinstein's colleagues are also over 80yo and one former member, Strom Thurmond, even celebrated his 100th birthday whilst still in office back in 2002.

This person isn't convinced

As he point sout early vote numbers tilt to the Democrats.

Cheers. That would certainly be a relief.

When Gray Davis lost his recall he was polling 29% approval. 44% nonetheless voted to keep him.

Meanwhile, in a place that doesn't have silly recall rules.

Assuming this is reliable for early voting in California.

https://electproject.github.io/Early-Vote-2020G/CA.html

Unless a bunch of dickhead hard left Democrats haven't voted to recall, it should be OK. Tough Covid situation in California, but Newsom has got it under better control than lots of other states.
