Polling shows support is high for Trump's tariff tomfoolery but he's primarily a story teller. His story is that he's going to bring back a mid 20th century economy in which 80,000 men clock in at behemoth car plants in Detroit every day.
Two interesting stats; America is already the second biggest vehicle manufacturer after China and the sector has a growing labour shortage.

They're still hearing stuff like this.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will tell the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday that nearly 50 countries have approached him to discuss new sweeping tariffs imposed by Trump.
"Several of these countries, such as Argentina, Vietnam, and Israel, have suggested they will reduce their tariffs and non-tariff barriers," Greer said in written testimony seen by Reuters.
Argentina and Israel? Those are their best mates. A phone call would have got those changed.

Nice to see 3D printing again. It was also a solution to Brexit frictions, according to Andrew Neil. But fair play, Joel here has taken that idea and run with it. Patriotic Americans knocking up complex aircraft parts in their garages, like Jobs and Wozniak knocked up computers in theirs (except I now see that's a myth).
