Read this from The Guardian. The government should be doing more to prepare the country for the coming confrontation with Russia, yet it seems to be behind the curve compared with other nations. The phrase "Keep Calm and carry On" still seems to be the attitude when we should be informing the public about how to make this country resilient in the face of a potential attack. A clear example of this is the lack of food security.

An interesting article. I dare say the other notable instance of the UK being shockingly unprepared was the coronavirus pandemic. Yet another example of the egregious awfulness of the Tories in government from 2010 to 2024, and just one item on a massive list of things that Labour in government is now obliged to try to put right - which as we have seen so far is no easy task.

This is the gathering peril about which I have been posting, these last few days.

You don't have to be a perpetually petrified prepper to voice real concerns that, if shit comes to bust, the UK is stripped naked to the bone. Most of the EU is in no better a position, so don't expect Sainsbury's to be brimming with Spanish lettuces and Hungarian salami.

If Russia goes balls out, we will be systemically fucked within 24 hours.

Was ever thus. Even in the years before WW1, some German general said that "the British army is ideal for fighting contained colonial actions, whereas ours is perfect for defeating the French". Historically, Britain didn't get involved in heavy military actions on land against comparable powers unless it had to. Hence the primacy of the Navy.
