Special thread for this. Lots will be America, obviously, but anywhere will do.

Texas cop who voted for Trump surprised Trump pardoned people who attacked Police on January 6th, and worried that his (undocumented) Dad might get kicked out. Seeing the Dad works on a farm in Texas, he may be worrying unduly about this. who knows?

J.P. Morgan econs on Trump’s latest are “increasingly concerned that the policy mix may tilt into an unintentionally far less business-friendly stance. The sustained 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico set to start this weekend is materially different than the tariff increases built into our baseline.”
"Unintentionally" though.

Some of those pardoned have gone on to commit crimes one of them was even killed in a shootout with police. But in all honesty I have very little sympathy for these people, Trump said he was going to do both of the above but this person and others went along with it because they were mad about immigration and inflation.

Florida Man edition:

"Let's work something out" — Florida resident appeals to President Trump to let him keep his wife after ICE deports her back to Venezuela
The wife, Vianis Ramirez, lived in the US for a few years and was one of the three individuals taken from the house. The two others were men who worked in construction.

Her husband claimed she was about to become a US citizen with pending paperwork.

According to Ramirez’s husband, she already had a court date but the ICE officials came and ‘snatched’ her. The couple was about to celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary on January 31, 2025. He wanted his words to reach President Trump as he said:

“If I get a chance to talk to you, man. Yo, please man let’s work something out so you may let me keep my wife here and you know, see man she deserves to be here man.”

The raid happened in South Florida’s Brownsville. Reportedly, the mass deportation raids were one of President Trump’s campaign promises. The man also said the ICE officials turned off the cameras, calling the situation despicable and embarrassing.

I've been to Brandon. It's just in-land from Tampa where my ex's ex-husband lives with his new wife and her new breasts which she won at Las Vegas (I kid thee not), and we stayed for one night before running away.

They have these mental HOA types which roam the streets - armed, naturally - in behemothic veehickles, measuring the length of the grass on your lawn and issuing fines. Being Cuban there is probably not a wise option.

St Pete Beach, just down the road, is, on the other hand, rather agreeable. Suitably refreshed in a clap-board bar on stilts, I strapped on an old parlour guitar and played with some Hispanic lads until the sun threatened to come up. The ex was not best pleased, but I left with about a hundred bucks more in my pocket than I arrived with.

In a card game?
It is a moderately sad story.

Her then husband was full of leukaemia and wanted to see Las Vegas before he died. On their last evening and with one of his final spins on the slots, the machine spewed untold riches which she then invested in a McMansion in Brandon together with a brace of architectural wonders.

Deport the gardeners.

Next thing,.
The H.O.A. come round with their lawn calipers.
And you're hiding in your hurricane shelter.

Obligatory cultural reference: I think an episode of Rising Damp covers something similar.
