On the Culture Wars chums may find this interesting (it's been accepted wisdom in education for a generation).

Not so much new depths, but who's not surprised at this!

As she keeps saying "the queen" without stipulating which one, I rather think Terence Cuneo's portrait of The Queen of the Belgians would look rather good on my wall.

Obeying the letter of her proposal.

From an immigrant background, he's worked his way up from the bottom and is grateful for the opportunities this country provided him and he wanted to promote that. I smelt no gammon about him.
Sounds like his idea has been hijacked by the government and turned into something it was never intended to be.
No one yet seems to have unpacked the "Please don't hit me; I can be British, too!" aspect of this.

With English nationalism on the rise, it shouldn't really surprise us that some people who might become victims of its darker side will try to steer it (thinly wrapped in 'Britishness') in a more acceptable direction.

Naive, though. Very naive.

It's hardly surprising that a British Punjabi should find himself under attack from the English (and I do mean English) nationalists having written a song which is supposed to celebrate diversity and promote unity. The Gammon are not known for their love of Indian people.

Why should anyone be surprised? We have an Attorney General who comments publicly about ongoing police investigations and a Home Secretary who calls the Opposition voting against the Government "defying the will of the people".

The Saj is running. He's cutting through the "data" to the real issues.

I mean, I think most places will do some (unspoken) herd immunity by infection of lower risk people alongside their vaccine programmes. But I'm not so happy with "bring it on!"

As an aside, it's not useful for some experts to misrepresent what Javid said as "Covid is like flu".

Did he learn from de Piffle when he was FS?

I think that's a given.
Also - it would shut the CRG up for a bit.
