Even if he gets let off - and I find that increasingly unlikely - his statement that it was his job to make sure people in No. 10 had a lovely time and to keep up morale during covid while expecting others to die in isolation is a stark reminder that at the root of this is an absolute moral abyss of a man, and he should never hold any form of office or public role again.

He’s just tried to rely on something in the Sue Grey report, which he’s been slagging off all week and claiming the committee are basing their findings on, to be told that it was irrelevant as they weren’t going on what was in the Sue Grey report. And then everyone laughed at him.

He’s cracking, he’s being made to look an absolute fool, and he fucking *hated* being laughed at.

He is now ‘accidentally’ naming people in photos with him, then apologising.

It is, of course, entirely deliberate so those people can then be pursued by his media friends and, if he goes down, can be taken down with him. They may even be people he suspects have given evidence against him.

He is an absolutely despicable man.

That might be what he was thinking, but I don't see much in that for him. Those people are likely to have been fined already, whereas he wasn't on some home-workplace perceived loophole (I imagine he told the cops he'd fight everything except for the relatively innocuous cake thing). This isn't something that rebounds to his credit in any way.

Doubtless his media mates already know who they all are anyway.

Also seems he was rather picky about who he asked for advice - mainly political advisors who owed their careers to him rather than ostensibly neutral lawyers or civil servants.

The reassuring thing is how clear, precise and straightforward this skewering is, and how awful and flimsy Johnson’s ‘defence’ is. It makes any serious accusation of a fit-up near impossible to make, and forces those who might be inclined to defend Johnson in the hope of future favour make a very hard decision - attempt to justify the utterly ludicrous in the rapidly shrinking hope of a from-the-grave comeback, or finally cut him loose.

It’s also of note that the most devastating attacks have come from Tories.

More on that story later. In other news, it has been revealed that the Pope is in fact a muslim.
And the bear was hiding chocolate brownies in the woods - so the little orphans would enjoy their scavenger hunt.
